I was studying at Berkeley at the time of the Tiananmen Square protests. Many Chinese graduate students including a friend and labmate of mine were actively supporting the movement. After the massacre they printed a poster reproducing the Tank Man photo in black and white with the caption “We stand with him”. I still have that poster, and I intend to bring it with me to a demonstration organized by Amnesty International in front of the Chinese Embassy on June 4.
